The Mozambican parliament today approved, by a large majority, a new budget for infrastructure projects across the country, with particular emphasis on the construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges.
According to lawmakers, the financial package aims to cut transport costs, connect rural areas to the main urban centres and boost the economy of the country’s northern and central provinces.
Implementation will be phased over the next three years, with reinforced oversight mechanisms to ensure transparency in the works and adherence to deadlines.
